FAQ
We figured the best way to provide more info about what we do and how is to show you our Frequently Asked Question. Still have questions? Contact us!
Publishing Program 1 – Nokia Store Life Cycle Management
Q: Will we need to prepare the apps somehow?
A: No, just send the files and your current marketing material and we handle it all
Q: I already have a lite and/or premium version online
A: You can keep both version online if you like. If you have not yet published the app, we can do that for you as well managing the whole app scope of premium, advertisement based and in some cases Try Before You Buy
Q: Would this not hurt my premium sales?
A: No not really based on what we have seen. The few sales you might “lose” are balanced out through the purchase link and then some. This combined with advertisement revenue means incremental revenue
Q: What hand-sets do I need to support?
A: Get in touch with us and we’ll tell you. We need full touch on devices supporting it.
Q: Why do you publish my app / game?
A: We want to be able to leverage our current Nokia Store presence, track record and relations. If we do not publish, that becomes difficult
Publishing Program 2 – iOS & Android local territory approach
Who does what?
Q: What exactly will you do?
A: This depends on the app and what market we handle. The basic package is to localize the app and marketing material in all aspects (language, cultural, tone etc) and then handle the complete product life cycle once the title goes live. We also handle co-branding, special local marketing and local campaigns, usability improvements and feature upgrades getting the title that extra edge (based on local competition) but, as said, it all depends on the app at the end of the day.
Q: Who will do the actual work to get the title ready??
A: Our idea is that we handle it all. This includes but is not limited to translation, coding of localization, marketing assets production, QA, upload etc. Should this prove to be difficult for whatever reason (maybe you are using a proprietary framework etc) we’ll deal with that.
Q: Who uploads to the appstore(s)?
A: In order for us to do what we say, we need to upload the titles. To manage the app once it is live requires monitoring, updates of marketing properties, price management etc and hence we need to have full editorial control.
Q: What does this cost?
A: We work against revenue share (sometimes recouping up-front cost as the case may be) so no money out of pocket for you!
Marketing and IP related
Q: Do you also work with new apps meaning apps that have yet to be released??
A: In some cases yes. Most of the apps we touch have been live for a while though. This minimizes risk on many levels ranging from app stability to commercial viability
Q: I need to give approval of the apps you touch before they go to market.
A: Of course, this is in our interest as well!
Q: What about current versions of the app out in the market?
A: To the greatest extent possible we’d like you to remove your version of the app in the appstore(s) for the markets we handle. This to avoid causing confusion for the end consumer and dilute marketing message.
Q: What about IP? Who owns what?
A: In general we each own what we create and no ownership of IP will shift hands due to the work we are doing. Your apps will remain your apps.
Q: I have deals with carriers in some territories and they want to place my games in their local Android portals. Can we use the translations and adaptations you made for that market?
A: Yes, under commercial conditions no problem!
Q: I have cross promotions in my apps, is that ok?
A: Yes, should not be a problem we discuss this on a case per case basis.
General – Payment and Reporting
Q: When do you report royalties?
A: We send you preliminary royalty reports monthly, usually mid month. Once we have final numbers, we send you a final royalty report and it is this that you invoice us against! We aim to provide you with close to real-time reporting of sales soon
Q: When do you pay us?
A: We pay you 30 days after we receive your invoice
